Day Camp Counselor Job Vacancy


 
We are looking for a part-time male camp counsellor for the summer.  Do you know a mature young man over the age of 17 who loves kids?  This is a great job for anyone looking to beef up their resume’s or who may be trying to decide if they want to teach.  I’ve attached the job description for reference.

Day Camp Counselor

Male - Part Time (25 hours/week)
Fitness on 25th
In order to provide proper supervision to all of the campers, only male applications will be accepted.
POSTION SUMMARY
As part of a dynamic team, the Camp Counselor is responsible for the effective delivery of recreational programming for children ages 6 – 8 years.  Day camps are offered July and August. 
POSITION REPORTING
Reports to Day Camp Coordinator, YWCA Fitness on 25th
DIRECT REPORTS
None
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver programming with a focus on physical activity and fun:

 Create a warm, safe and enjoyable environment for participants;
  • Provide ongoing communication with parents/guardians of participants;
  • Use the camp curriculum to provide children opportunities to be physically active and engaged in creative and fun craft projects;
  •          Act as a role model for participants and volunteers;
  •          Be flexible and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment;
  •          Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
·         CPR-C and First Aid certification (mandatory)
·         Valid Criminal Record Check (mandatory)
·         Interested in one of the following fields of study:

  • Environmental Engineering
  • Kinesiology
  • Education
  • Recreation and Leisure
  • Early Childhood Development
·         Experience working with children and understanding of learning theories desirable
